 Piping Hot Summer Drummer offers a number of full or partial scholarships to assist students attending the school. There are 4 types of scholarships available:
General Scholarship Fund – This fund exists because of the kind contributions of current and former Piping Hot Summer Drummer participants. These scholarships funds are available to any piper, drummer, highland dancer or Drum Major who wishes to attend to Piping Hot Summer Drummer. This is a full or partial one-week, tuition-only scholarship.
Arran Campbell Memorial Scholarship This scholarship has kindly been made available for several years by the Campbell family. Arran Campbell was a vibrant young man who was a student at PHSD for several years. Arran went on to win the World Championship as a member of the side drum corps of SFU. This is a full one-week tuition scholarship to Piping Hot Summer Drummer. The successful recipient must be a side drummer residing in British Columbia.
Trent Donaldson Memorial Scholarship This scholarship has kindly been made available by Donn Pratt, nephew of Trent Donaldson. Trent Donaldson was both a piper and drummer in the Seattle area. This is a full one-week tuition scholarship to Piping Hot Summer Drummer and available to any piper.
Susan Menzies Memorial Scholarship This scholarship has kindly been made available by the Menzies Family. Susan Menzies, the late sister of PHSD instructor Rob Menzies, was a talented highland dancer in the Vancouver area. This is a full one-week tuition scholarship to Piping Hot Summer Drummer and is available to any highland dancer.
The Waugh Family Scholarship
This scholarship has been kindly donated by the Waugh family. Bob Waugh was a committed piper and Helen continues to be a great piping and drumming enthusiast. This is a full one-week tuition scholarship to PHSD for a piper or drummer. The successful recipient must be a young (under25) and talented competition piper or side drummer who has financial need to pursue his/her hobby of piping or drumming and who either works, teaches or plays gigs to raise money to support their musical hobby.
